Film:

Wall-E

WALL-E was chosen to come along with us to Aurora because it is such a powerful reminder of what we can do when we don't take care of our planet and the importance of taking care of each other and the world around us. In the robot's determination and hope, the film shows deep human values. It shows us the love, perseverance, and responsibility that will be needed to build a rich future in a new world. It is also a warning against over-reliance on technology and neglect of the environment, so it is both inspirational and cautionary about repeating Earth's same mistakes on Mars as we start again.

Star Wars: A New Hope

Star Wars: A New Hope deserves a spot in our Mars colony because it embodies the spirit of hope, perseverance, and imagination values needed for resetting man in a new homeworld. As a work of culture, it preserves part of Earth's cultural heritage while inspiring us with its timeless story of struggle against unimaginable odds. Its theme may help to construct ethical thinking in an era of young people, and its entertainment value helps with mental health during the violence of space. In generations to come that are born on Mars, it will be a reminder of how far we've come and a symbol of how far we can go.

The Lion King

We chose The Lion King because it contains universal truths in identity, responsibility, and the circle of life. These are examples of things necessary in building a new society from scratch. It's a story of the redemption of Simba from exile back to kingship that reminds us that facing the past and embracing our role in its entirety is necessary for individual and communal progress. With its stories of rebirth and legacy, The Lion King has the power to inspire future generations on Mars to lead fearlessly, respect the natural world, and hold on to their heritage on Earth.

These films are important to Aurora because they teach important lessons for life on Mars. Together, they give people hope, remind them to take care of their environment, and show how communities can start fresh, all things that help when you're living in isolated underground tunnels.

The films keep Earth's stories and dreams alive, inspire people to keep going when things get tough, warn against wasting precious resources in their indoor farms, and teach about leadership and making the most of what little you have. This is especially important as Aurora's community grows and changes.

By watching these films, people stay mentally strong, think creatively about solving problems, and feel connected to each other. This means Aurora's settlers won't just stay alive in Mars' harsh environment; they'll actually build a successful society with shared goals, sustainable practices, and a meaningful legacy for their children born on Mars.
